The Boeing Company Experienced Spacecraft Systems Engineering Lead in Seal Beach, California

Experimental Systems Group (ESG) group is seeking an experiencedSpacecraft Systems Engineering Lead(Level 5) in Seal Beach, CA.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead new scope which includes sub-system requirements development, design, manufacturing, procurement, integration, verification, sell-off, delivery, and future operational support of a new spacecraft.

  • Experience leading large NRE development projects / system / CONOPS development.

  • Spacecraft subsystem knowledge.

  • Design-to-cost management; understand and drive team decisions using product cost estimates to optimize the product design.

  • Leads cost capability trade study analysis and recommendations.

  • Coordinates the work of Boeing and subcontractor teams.

  • Leading and mentoring team members.

  • Coordinates with customers, Boeing leadership, and the program team.

This position requires an active Top Secret/Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with CI Polygraph U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

Typical Education & Experience:

  • Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's 14 or more years' experience, Master's with 12 or more years' experience or PhD with 9 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 10 years of experience in space/satellite sub-systems, with knowledge across all segments of the system.

  • Project management experience (planning, scheduling, and executing).

  • End-to-end system design, development, integration, and verification experience.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Space systems design-to-cost experience desired.

  • Engineering leadership experience.

  • Experience with performing trade studies.
