Southern California Edison’s (SCE's) Transmission and Distribution Organizational Unit (T & D) is responsible for planning, engineering, constructing, operating, and maintaining transmission and distribution facilities throughout the 50,000-square-mile territory. T&D is the steward of roughly $19 billion in assets that safely and reliably deliver electricity to 14 million residents via SCE’s 5 million customer accounts.

Position Overview

This position will be in the Distribution, Construction and Maintenance (DC&M) division within Southern California Edison’s (SCE) Transmission and Distribution Business Unit (TDBU). The successful candidate will be responsible for the supervision and execution of work performed by the Single Conductor Crew in the Orange region. Responsibilities include overseeing scheduling, coordinating, construction & maintenance of all work activities as pertaining to installation of underground cable. The successful candidate is expected to ensure that all aspects directly related to the construction and maintenance activities are optimized, including: resource utilization, crew productivity, safe work practices and compliance to customer communications protocol. The position is also responsible for meeting established goals as they relate directly to Distribution Construction and Maintenance.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Ensuringappropriate training of subordinates, including career development.

  • Administeringrecognition and discipline.

  • Interfacingwith subordinates, peers, and management regarding daily work activities.

  • Overseeand work with management teams to acquire proper resources, tools, vehicles,materials and other equipment and the necessary training conducive to providinga safe working environment.

  • Necessarytraining conducive to providing a safe working environment.

  • Conductingperformance reviews, developing performance expectations, and providingdevelopmental feedback.

  • Assuringaccurate timekeeping/accounting (i.e., employee time off).

  • Assuringquality and timeliness of completed work order packages.

  • Assuringall safety bulletin/issues are understood and complied with.

  • Assuringweekly safety meetings are timely and of quality content.

  • Meetingscheduled project and customer dates established through the Regional ResourcePlanning and the District Scheduling groups.

  • Workingclosely with district personnel, both with PSPECS and Operations, and in thefield with the E crews.

  • Approving,and or assisting and being familiar with switching procedures.

  • Verifyingcircuit map accuracy and timely updates.

  • Timelyassignment of crews on outages through the SRO process.

  • Creatingand maintaining a safety conscious work environment by leading and influencingothers to follow Edison safety protocols and safe work practices.

  • Performingother responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have supervisory and/or team leadershipexperience.

  • Must haveexperience in the operation and/or construction and maintenance of theelectric system.

  • Must have a validU.S. driver’s license.

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate Degree or an equivalent combination ofeducation, training, and experience.

  • Typically possesses five or more years combinedexperience performing and/or supervising activities related to theoperation, construction and maintenance, and/or scheduling activitiesassociated with the electric distribution system.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the underground andoverhead construction, maintenance and operation of the electricaldistribution system and associated regulatory requirements, including environmentalregulations, safety policies and procedures, and hazardous wastemanagement.

  • Demonstrated understanding and applied knowledge ofcable pulling standards, calculations, max pulling strengths, Inventorymaps, work order cable length requirements, and underground bends andsweeps.

  • Demonstrated experience working with bargaining unitemployees.

  • Demonstrated experience with the application of unionagreement and handling labor relations and diversity issues.

  • Demonstrated experience with environmental compliance,safe work practices, construction/maintenance methods, techniques, toolsand equipment.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of distribution accounting,including timekeeping, accounting and completion of work orderpackages.

  • Demonstrated thorough knowledge of GO95, 128 and Accident Prevention Manual safety rules.

  • Demonstrated ability to accurately analyze information,make sound decisions that have moderate to significant business impact anddevelop and implement strategies.

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results through othersby prioritizing activities, delegating and monitoring the progress ofassignments, and holding employees accountable for results.

  • Must demonstrate excellent business mastery, includingthe ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the businessand services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, managerisks and safety appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manageinformation, and provide exceptional service to internal and externalcustomers.

  • Must demonstrate strong personal mastery, includingethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills,communication, the ability to effectively manage stress and engage incontinuous learning.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications: suchas Excel, Word and Lotus Notes and Document Libraries; Experience as aPlanner in the Planning Organization
