Position Overview:

The Strategic Workforce Planning Manager position will have 2 direct reports and be a key member of the Workforce Strategy & Insights team at Southern California Edison (SCE). The Workforce Strategy & Insights team sits within SCE’s Human Resources (HR) organization, and is responsible for the analytical, forecasting, and planning processes that ensure SCE’s labor plan and HR’s operations support the business strategy and financial objectives.

The Strategic Workforce Planning Manager position will oversee:

SCE Workforce Planning Process:

  • Defineand implement the strategic workforce planning framework, process, and metricsfor integration into the SCE strategic planning process in support of thebusiness strategy.

  • Leadthe development of a five-year strategic workforce forecast and plan including scenario planning, modeling, conducting environmental scan, performing gapanalysis, and monitoring and evaluating workforce plan progress.

  • Conduct workforce planninganalysis to determine what gaps exist between the current and projectedworkforce needs in the short-term and long-term in order to develop mitigationstrategies

  • Establishstrong cross-functional relationships to connect across SCE-wide workforceinitiatives

  • Partnerwith OU leaders, Finance, and HR Business Partners to understand workforcerequirements in terms of headcount, budget requirements, and skills now and inthe future.

  • Prepare reports onworkforce characteristics for key stakeholders related to specific job segmentsleveraging data analytics and internal/external workforce insights and trends.

  • Establish,maintain, and execute on a consistent method of analyzing the current state ofthe SCE workforce encompassing demographics, job movements, workforcecapability and capacity, headcount trends, and overall impact to costs.

  • Createand manage project plans to ensure timely and accurate delivery of deliverables.

  • Staycurrent on industry practices and issues related to workforce planning,assessing and communicating their potential impact on the business.

  • Managethe work of a Senior Analyst in support of this function.

HR Operational Planning & Budgeting Process:

  • ManageHRs annual budgeting process; facilitate and collect work activity drivers and budgetforecasts from leaders across HR and work with Finance to provide HR budget Createand manage project plans to ensure timely and accurate delivery of deliverables.

  • Provideinsights into monthly Finance budget reports, analyzing and forecasting varianceof plan versus actual

  • Understandfinancial pressures, cost allocations, and accounting hierarchy to providefinancial affordability guidance in alignment with company cost efficiencyobjectives.

  • Staycurrent on industry practices and issues related to operating planning andbudgeting assessing and communicating their potential impact on the business.

  • Managethe work of a Senior Analyst in support of this function.

The successful candidate will act as an internal consultant to HR leadership, business leaders, HR business partners and other key stakeholders regarding the implications of workforce analytics and insights, build strong internal customer relationships with key HR and business leaders to define and understand strategic objectives, and develop meaningful and actionable workforce plans and metrics to drive workforce decisions, forecasting capabilities and strategic insights.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have experience in HR Workforce Planning.

  • Musthave five years of experience leading HR project teams/programs with experiencein performing data analysis, and using assessment findings to planrecommendations.

  • Musthave a Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, statistics, economics,engineering, computer science, human resources or related discipline.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’sDegree in Finance, Data Science, Business or Human Resources is preferred.

  • Experienceleading and/or managing a team.

  • Strongtechnical skills including experience in statistical software package(s) e.g.,SAS, SPSS, data query tools, SQL and MS Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Access, andSAP.

  • Demonstratedexperience modeling workforce trends and analytics (e.g., Markov Chain)including the utilization of various forms of data analysis and modeling suchas forecasting.

  • Demonstratedability to interact with Senior Management and peers on matters requiringinternal or cross-company coordination.

  • ProjectManagement Certification and/or SPHR certification is a plus.

  • Experiencewithin the energy or utility industry or within a regulated and non-regulatedsector is desirable.

  • Experienceworking in a union contract environment and understanding the associatedimpacts on Workforce is desirable.

Comments:

  • Thisposition may require up to 10-15% vehicle travel across the SCE serviceterritory.

  • Relocationmay apply to this position.
