SMG Security Manager in Ontario, California

POSITION: Security Manager DEPARTMENT: Security REPORTS TO: Director of Security FLSA STATUS: Salaried Exempt

Job Summary:

SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Security Manager at the Ontario Convention Center and Citizens Business Bank Arena. With oversight and direction from the Director, the Security Manager is responsible for the overall efforts to safeguard the patrons, employees, and assets of the Ontario Convention Center and Citizens Business Bank Arena.

Additionally, this individual is responsible for the performance and conduct of all security officers assigned to 24hr security operations as well as event-related security staff.

The Security Manager will assist the Director of Security with the hiring, training, scheduling, and daily oversight of, Supervisors, Officers and event-related third party contractors in accordance with SMG's best practices.

Essential Duties:

*Enforces facility policies and procedures and supervises the implementation and overall activities of all security personnel, in such a manner as to ensure the highest possible level of security, life safety, and asset protection

*Promotes a customer service-centric and positive public relations approach to the execution of all duties

*With oversight and direction from the Director of Security, responsible for the professional appearance and quality of the performance and conduct of the site's entire security team as a cohesive unit

*Responsible for maintain proper staffing levels for 24hr facility operations and events through forecasting and scheduling

*Responsible for the quality, accuracy and maintenance of all security logs, daily activity reports, post orders, and incident reports on site

*Maintains direct communication with shift leads/supervisors to address performance issues, proposes improvements and initiates prompt and corrective actions, with Human Resources, as needed

*Assists Event Services with developing unique event-specific security plans and actively participates in event coordination through operation meetings, written and verbal communication

*Manages and controls the credentialing and key programs, radio inventory and allocation, the lost and found program, and maintenance of emergency supplies

*Process employee time records on a daily basis for payroll *Other duties as assigned


*A minimum education level of: Associate of Arts/Sciences Degree (2-year) with an area of study in Security/ Criminal Justice/Hospitality *AND 4 years of related work experience *Ability to pass a criminal background check, employment verification, and drug screening *Bachelor's Degree and/or graduation from a law enforcement academy is desirable


*Valid California Driver's License *Valid California Guard Card


Knowledge of:

*The challenges, issues, philosophies, principles, tactics and procedures related to the management of security services

*Relevant and current local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and ordinances which may impact security operations


*Ability to apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems to successfully perform and direct varied and complex tasks

*Highly proficient in both verbal and written communication

*Ability to effectively manage crises and work in high pressure environments without loss of composure

*Ability to interact effectively and calmly with angry or emotional patrons and employees during intensely aggravated circumstances

*Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, guests, peers and senior management
