As a Auditor at the GS-0511-7/9 with a full performance level of GS-12, you will be part of OIG Investigations, Office of Personnel Management. If selected, you will serve as an entry-level Forensic Auditor responsible for providing assistance to senior forensic auditors in analyzing criminal and civil investigations of fraud affecting OPM programs, including the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP).

- Assists senior forensic auditors in reviewing and/or evaluating, allegations from internal and external partners regarding potential fraudulent activities impacting various programs administered by the OPM.
- Assists with preparing and communicating health care and financial data analysis to internal and external executives, including attorneys from the Department of Justice.
- Assists in preparing financial profiles of individuals and/or groups identified in the participation of suspicious/illegal health care or financial fraud activity.
- Assists in preparing reports, spreadsheets and/or presentations to document work.

**All applicants must meet one of the following, as a basic requirement:
A.**Degree: accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law. (The term "accounting" means accounting and/or auditing in this standard. Similarly, "accountant" should be interpreted, generally, as "accountant and/or auditor.") (You must provide college or university transcripts to verify your academic accomplishments.)
B. Four years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge with a background that also includes one of the following: (1) Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses of appropriate type and quality. This can include up to 6 hours in business law;
(2)** A certificate as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), obtained through written examination;
(3)**Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in accounting or auditing, e.g., 15 semester hours, but that does not fully satisfy the 24-semester hour requirement of paragraph A, provide that (a) the applicant has successfully worked at the full-performance level in accounting, auditing, or a related field, e.g., valuation engineering or financial institution examining; (b) a panel of at least two higher level professional accountants and of related and underlying fields that equals in breadth, depth, currency, and level of advancement that which is normally associated with successful competition of the 4-year course of study described in paragraph A; and (c) except for literal non conformance to the requirement of 24 semester hours in accounting, the applicant's education, training, and experience fully meet the specialized requirements.
**In addition to the basic qualifications listed above, all applicants must meet the following:
For the GS-07 Grade Level:**One year of specialized experience at the GS-05 level (or equivalent) gathering and analyzing financial data and drafting reports. OR 1 full year of graduate level education OR a Bachelor's degree that meets one of the requirements for Superior Academic Achievement( S.A.A.) OR an equivalent combination of specialized experience and graduate level education.
For the GS-09 Grade Level: One year specialized experience at the GS-07 level (or equivalent) gathering and analyzing financial data and drafting reports AND identifying and analyzing potential allegations on Federal Employees Health Benefits Plan and other OPM programs. OR A Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. OR and equivalent combination of specialized experience and graduate level education.
Merit promotion applicants must meet time-in-grade requirement as defined in 5 CFR 300, Subpart F.One year at the GS-05 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. One year at the GS-07 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level.
