Zodiac Inflight Innovations is a subsidiary of Zodiac Aerospace who develops in-flight entertainment systems and connectivity systems for the airline industry worldwide. The Proposal Writer is responsible for advising and supporting the external Sales and Marketing Team as well as the Program Office on proposal management and development. This role will interface with the field sales support and the Sales Order Administration team to gain a wide understanding of customer requirements and ensure customer satisfaction is maintained. Elements of this position require the ability to multi-task, interact with customers and to find creative solutions in real-time to problems and barriers. The Proposal Writer will be responsible for the continuous improvement and implementation of proposal procedures and processes. This is a highly networked role that requires an ability to work under pressure to challenging deadlines.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Produce professionally written proposal content that clearly articulates the organizations value proposition, coordinate proper governance and proposal sign off
Improves proposal writing results by evaluating, recommending and re-designing processes, approach, coordination, and templates from time to time
Determines equipment and system to be proposed by understanding and clarifying requirements from the customer’s Request for Proposal (RFP)
Manages the proposal pricing workbook, including system configuration and equipment changes by aircraft/system platform, by keeping the standard costs and pricing current, and updating the pricing workbook template to align with business changes
Works within the company defined CRM tool (Sales Force) for proposal management
Leads Program Change Order (PCO) processing in the CRM tool for any changes identified by Program Management, including monitoring the approval cycle and keeping the CRM tool updated with current status
Meets proposal deadline by establishing priorities and due dates set by the head of Sales and Marketing
Support the sales administration process, including sales order entry to operations and managing purchase orders from customers
Thorough understanding of sales, cost of sales, and gross margin
Working knowledge of product cost elements
Ability to assess impact of customer concessions timing on cash flow and profitability
Ability to summarize and present key proposal metrics (Financials, Risks & Opportunities, Key Proposal Themes) to Leadership
Preferred Qualifications and/or Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a technical or business discipline or equivalent experience in a related field
3+ years of experience working in a similar role
Technically astute in understanding electrical and mechanical systems
Experience in technical writing
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Must be a strong communicator, verbal and written
Must possess the quality to show maturity and discernment around customers and senior leaders
Process improvement oriented
Possess a strong passion for customer satisfaction
Must be proactive, meticulous, organized, and detail oriented
Must be able to effectively work with other team members to accomplish multiple tasks in a timely manner
Ability to proactively resolve problems in a positive manner
Ability to work independently, with minimal direction
Ability to use discretion and independent judgment when making decisions on behalf of the company
